Day Four: Ceilings, and Fans, and Primer - Oh My!

Big day for us at the house. After my unsuccessful still blotchy second coat of ceiling paint, my little brother came and did a third coat and they now look beautiful!

But they are especially beautiful with their new ceiling fans, which my dad came up to help us put up today. They mean light and airflow when we need them - and that is fantastic because we need both to paint past sundown.

There was one fan that couldn't be put up today because its hole needed to be more structurally sound. The last people to use the wiring up here apparently butchered it when they took down whatever used to be here. Dad used his electrical knowledge to figure out which wire was which and get it ready for the fan when everything structural is good to go. While Dad was putting up fans, Mom was removing flower decals from the upstairs bathroom walls, and washing the walls, and washing the ceiling. It looks less tacky and less gross in there - both wonderful things.

After dinner and buying more ceiling paint, John and I went back to the house and continued to paint, finishing up the two other bedroom ceilings, and then we painted the hallway, closets, and laundry room (the sea green would be awesome, except that it's not...) ceilings. The house is slowly becoming less depressing, one ceiling at a time. And we primed the master bedroom, so it's just about ready for real paint - and for stuff to be moved in!

Our refrigerator arrives tomorrow, and I'm sure there will be more painting (because that's all I do these days), as well as some possible progress on the kitchen front (though I do not know what, exactly, that might look like). We're pressing along...
