Just when you think the demolition is over, this is what happens:
Your little brother takes out the tile in the upstairs bathroom and finds linoleum and carpet under the tile. Wow. Carpet in the bathroom. That's a classy 60s-made home.
While John did demolition work in the bathroom and continue to paint (just about all day - such an incredible blessing), Elise worked on the kitchen cabinet doors. She finished sanding them and moved on to priming so that we can paint them:
Granted, we can't change their design, but we're hoping that by changing their color and actually painting them correctly, they will look much better when we put them back on the boxes in the kitchen.
And speaking of the kitchen, our only working faucet in the house has been installed there:
Chris and his dad put in the long chunk of countertop tonight and installed the sink and faucet! It is so incredibly exciting to see all of the bits and pieces finally coming together in the kitchen. Now that the flooring is in and the appliances are in place (the dishwasher and range aren't hooked up, but we're not using them yet anyway), it's starting to look like a kitchen!
We're hoping to work toward finishing the main level (which is mostly finish work, with the flooring and trim pieces) over the next few days, but we'll see how that goes. Until then, we're trying to get a bit of work done (for our jobs, you know) and get a bit of sleep before everything changes again Wednesday. Definitely getting closer.
