Days up through Twenty-Seven: Here and There

There hasn't been quite as much big stuff going on lately (though there has been some), so it's a bit weirder to try to update with new pictures and such. I mean, for me, I look at the pictures and know exactly which little pieces were changed - but, for you, you look at the pictures and think that I'm crazy for posting yet another picture of xyz that you can't tell the difference from the last picture...

Regardless, we're still eking out our free time to try and get ready to move next weekend (hooray!) and we're getting really close. The finishing touches are underway in the kitchen (John finished the crown moulding, put up the other side's backsplash, and did paint touch-ups today; Chris finished out the toekicks and trimboards on the cabinets, and changed out most of the outlets and switches; and my mother-in-law, the saint that she is, finished cleaning and then lined all of the cabinet shelves after the doors were put back on the boxes).

Pretty much all that remains is a little paint, a slight alteration to the stove outlet box (funny how things like that are always in just the wrong spot!), and some work to make the dining light fixture flush to the ceiling, and then... Beautifully renovated, move-in ready kitchen!

Upstairs, the bedrooms are all finished and Chris purchased new doors and doorknobs, so those will be installed soon. The bathroom is coming along nicely and will hopefully be finished up this weekend. Jeff came back to help Chris grout the floor tile Tuesday night and we'll grout the shower tile this weekend, but that's not a terribly big job (for whoever does it, I suppose it's not a big job - for me, it would likely be disastrous). But once that's done and the vanity is figured out, the new toilet put in, and some trim and touch-up work finished... Beautifully renovated, move-in ready bathroom!

Okay, okay. So I realize that I just gave long lists of things left to do, but compared with where we've come from, we're in pretty good shape. Now, if only I could get all of the other things in my life done (seminar paper, a little bit of grading, church newsletter, home things)... All of the dust will settle soon!
